With New Immigration Proposal, Bipartisanship Remains Key

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The following is a statement from Ali Noorani, President and CEO of the National Immigration Forum, on the introduction of the U.S. Citizenship Act of 2021:

“The U.S. Citizenship Act is a positive step toward immigration reforms. The bill includes proposals that historically have garnered bipartisan support, such as a permanent solution for Dreamers, and we look forward to engaging lawmakers on both sides of the aisle to facilitate bipartisan legislative proposals that advance our country’s best interests.

“As we recover from COVID-19, the essential contributions of immigrants will be critical to the health and well-being of American workers and their families. We know that cementing these solutions will require lawmakers on both sides of the aisle. It’s time to put politics aside and take meaningful action toward solutions that offer certainty for the millions of Americans who depend on Dreamers, TPS recipients, agricultural workers and others.”
