“Republicans in Congress recognize that the president’s immigration framework is a starting point, not a last word. The four pillars the president laid out tonight cannot achieve the necessary bipartisan coalition. Speaker Ryan, Majority Leader McConnell and their colleagues have solutions at their fingertips that would boost our economy and our security while providing a solution for Dreamers.
“Across the spectrum, Americans want a solution that balances the rule of law and the compassion our country is built on — one that affirms both our security and Dreamers’ commitment to the only country they know as home.”
