Divisions Remain; How Will the Parties Respond?

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The following is a statement from Ali Noorani, Executive Director of the National Immigration Forum, following Tuesday’s elections:

“Tuesday’s results mark a clear win for Democrats, but the road ahead is complicated for both parties. America remains deeply divided.

“Both parties must carve out space for a values-based conversation, on immigration and otherwise, that unites rather than divides us. Republicans must counter the polarizing forces within their ranks. Democrats must not take anyone for granted.”
