Students of Welcome

A Student Movement That’s Changing the Conversation on Immigration

Students of Welcome is a national, student-led movement that’s flipping the script on how we talk about immigration. We’re here to make the conversation more informed, compassionate, and solution-focused — and we’re inviting college students like you to lead the way.

Immigration is often talked about like it’s a crisis — but what if we looked at it as an opportunity? Through education, service, and real-world impact, Students of Welcome is building space for students to spark honest conversations, challenge assumptions, and create real change on their campuses and beyond.

Join the Movement
Whether you’re just starting to explore the topic or ready to launch your own chapter, there’s a place for you. We’ve got three ways to get involved:

Level 1: Start the Conversation (Educate)
Spark the dialogue on your campus. Sign our Immigration Principles and host a campus event — like a book group, cross-cultural hangout, or class discussion. A simple first step to get started.

Level 2: Build the Momentum (Activate)
Ready to take it to the next level? Activate your campus! At this level, you’ll mobilize your campus, lead consistent events, and take action in your community to support immigrants and foster meaningful dialogue. At least one student leader signs our Immigration Principles.

Level 3: Lead the Way (Engage)
Be a national student leader in the movement! Launch or lead a chapter with 2–3 student ambassadors signing our Immigration Principles, organize one major event + three smaller ones per semester, and take part in national trainings and advocacy — from Capitol Hill visits to border trips and student-led national campaigns.

Students of Welcome is a national, nonpartisan student movement launched in 2024 by the National Immigration Forum. Our mission is focused on making immigration conversations more informed, compassionate, and solutions driven. The complexity and polarization of immigration make it a challenging topic. Through education, service, and opportunities to make a difference, we’re creating space for students to lead the way on engaging fellow students and their communities in productive conversations that examine the future of immigration not as a crisis but as a solution.
