H-1B Restrictions Would Cripple American Business

Washington, D.C. — On Friday, President Trump issued a presidential proclamation that, among other things, would create a $100,000 application fee per visa.

The following is a quote from Jennie Murray, President and CEO of the National Immigration Forum

“Should this order take effect, doing business will get harder for companies that rely on H-1B visas to complement their American-born workforce. The announcement effectively would block access to the H-1B visa program and hurt businesses of all sizes, especially small businesses.

“This executive order stifles a legal immigration program on which many American businesses depend — with effects that benefit Americans and the U.S. economy.

“We need to strengthen our security and leadership in the world with fair, orderly legal immigration channels that bolster our global economic standing. Today’s H-1B change is bad for business and goes against our long-term interests.”
